There is an advantage to being the most popular person on the ballot. Just ask Frank Lloyd Wright.
Well, not literally.
Illinois bicentennial voters picked Frank Lloyd Wright as the state's best artist or architect of the past 200 years.
Chris Wills with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum said it shouldn't be a surprise.
"There's a lot of great talent on the list of Illinois artists and architects," Wills said. "But the number of names that you automatically recognize is pretty low. And Frank Lloyd Wright is certainly the big name."
Wills said many of the others on the list are more known for their work, not their names.
For example, Lorado Taft, who sculpted both the Blackhwak statue in northern Illinois and the Alma Mater statue at the University of Illinois.
"The Alma Mater statue has been seen by millions of people over the years," Wills said. "As has his Eternal Indian statue, better known as the Blackhawk statue in northern Illinois."
